Legends of Jamaa

 

COSMO'S STORY

Chapter 1

Cosmo sat back and leaned against an old Oak tree.

He looked down to his paws, and saw the amazing and unique patterns the roots made in the ground, squiggling away from the tree.

He then looked up to the top of the tree. He carefully looked at the branches. He was amazed how the branches seemed to be reaching out, but for what?

He climbed to the top of the tree, and looked at the astonishing jungle and mountains.

He could see beautiful streams and rivers, mountains and hills, forests and meadows.

He adored how each plant had its own way of representing itself. As he was gazing at the view, he spotted something glowing beneath the trees. It was far off, about a two day walk.

But, when Cosmo saw something amazing, nothing stopped him from exploring it.

So he walked away to his eucalyptus tree, and climbed up to the top, where he reach a hole in the trunk of the tree. He put his paw inside, and pulled out a small bag on a stick.

It was filled with food, water, and daily devices. He put it over his back, and walked off.

He walked through the jungle listening to the birds singing and the cool breezes flowing through the forest.

He kept walking until he reached a small clearing in the jungle, where there were lovely flowers and plants.

He looked around and then he looked at the sky, it was filled with pink and orange stripes, glowing in front of the setting sun. He thought he might start to make a shelter for the night.

He found some recently fallen palms that he could lean against a tree to create a little tent.

He gathered some fallen logs and stacked them outside the tent, and surrounded them with rocks. He didn’t know how to make fire to keep him warm, which was a bad thing right now.

He found himself bored, sitting on a log, waiting for something to happen. Maybe lightning will strike the logs and set it alight.

He grabbed to tiny sticks of the log. He started rubbing them together because he had nothing else to do. Then a spark shot out of the sticks and fell into the fire pit. It set the logs on fire, just like magic!

He finally realised the power of nature!

Chapter 2

He carefully stared at the two sticks, and saw its uniqueness and beauty. He quickly fell in love with the beauty of nature.

He started getting bored of eating eucalyptus leaves, and had nothing else to do.

He wanted to talk to someone, but there was no one to be seen. So he started talking to a patch of lilies, which he knew wouldn’t talk back.

Then, again he saw the beauty and uniqueness of the flowers.  Then suddenly a gust of wind blew by, and he heard a silent whisper saying “All plants are unique, and they are living things just like you”.

Cosmo looked around and saw nobody. Then he looked at one lily in particular, and somehow sensed it was smiling. Yet it wasn’t actually smiling,  but somehow he sensed it was happy.

He then realised, it was the plants that talked to me! He then walked over to a small cactus, and saw it had a few cuts.

He carefully tried to sew it back together with a special type of very small vines.

Then another gust of wind blew by, and he heard the cactus whisper “Thank you for fixing me up, take a few drops of my water, and you shall mix it with a different plant’s moisture. Then you will find a new source of nature”.

Then the whispers floated away.

Then he saw some type of water dribbling down the cactus he had healed, and took it in his paws. He poured it into his trunk bottle and went to another patch of plants. This plant almost looked like it had jaws with sharp teeth at the end. He saw a fly pass by in front of the strange plant. Then a fly passed by, and suddenly the plant reached out and gobbled up the fly in its sharp jaws!

Cosmo was amazed. He had never seen anything like this in his whole life!

A smooth breeze floated by, and he heard a whisper saying “Mix my moisture”.

He was confused with that. He didn’t know what it meant. “Mix my moisture, what does that mean. Hang on! That is what the cactus said. It said mix a plants moisture and you will discover a new source of nature”.

He saw some gooey moisture drip out of the jaw of the plant, and he quickly put his bottle under it. The moisture dripped into his bottle. He walked around, overjoyed about his new discovery. He then came to a huge pole-like plant reaching to the clouds.

Then a gust of wind blew past and he heard the whisper saying “Mix my bark”.

Then a gust of wind blew past and he heard the whisper saying “Mix my bark”.

He took a little peel of the bark off the ground, and put it in his bottle. Then suddenly, a huge wind came across where he was standing, and some sort of shiny green mist flew out of the bottle, and made patterns in the air, and then zoomed back down into the bottle with a loud thump.

Cosmo could barely believe what had just happened. He looked back into the bottle, and pulled out a purple and green seed with beautiful multi-coloured patterns on it.

He dug a hole in the ground with his paws, and put the seed in. He filled up the hole, and got some water from the pond beside his tent, and poured it on top.

He then went into his tent and rolled up in some huge and cosy leaves.

Chapter 3

He woke up to a scary loud buzzing noise coming from outside.

He looked out of the tent, and saw two strange creatures, with lightning zooming out of it.

They were looking around cautiously. Cosmo’s mind went blank. He felt scared but at the same time courageous. He decided to attract the phantoms away from the area, so they did not harm the plants. He snuck out of his tent and  went behind the pitch black creatures. He had noticed that there was now a big plant that looked just like the plant he had discovered with jaws, except much larger.

He hid behind it and then jumped out, giving the creatures a fright. He backed up towards the plant, and the phantoms followed him, and then the plant with jaws gobbled up the two creatures, saving his life!

He then saw three amazing animals appear in front of him. One was a Panda, one was a tiger and one was a wolf.

“We are the alphas” they said. “We are the protectors of Jamaa. We see that you have discovered an amazing new plant, that can eat the phantoms.

This plant can save many animals lives, which are now in danger of the phantoms. We help protect the animals in Jamaa, and save them from the Phantoms.

We are amazed with your power to talk to plants and make amazing new plants.

We know you could save many lives, so on Mira’s command, we ask you to be an alpha and protect the animals of Jamaa!

Cosmo jumped with joy. “I would love to help you protect Jamaa. I will do whatever it takes!”

The alphas and their new companion walked away into the jungle, heading towards the wonderful land of Jamaa!

Cosmo is now part of the crew, but who will join next?

PECKS STORY

 Chapter 1

Peck and her two sisters sat in their burrow one night, eating the porridge and chuckling amongst themselves.

Peck was the most active of them all, she loved to be silly and active and play funny jokes.

A major storm was raging outside, but luckily their burrows were nice and cosy. Peck was very disappointed that she couldn’t go outside and explore, for that was what she loved most.

The storm had been going on for days now, and their mother was getting a bit worried, having their burrow underground, it could easily flood.

The kitchen already had some water leaking through the roof.

Peck excused herself from the table, and walked up to the door. She peeked through the window, and saw nothing but pitch black. Then suddenly, a lightning bolt struck, and the light glowed the outdoors, and peck saw some unusual shadows, lurking in the darkness, and they seemed to be making their own lightning in a way.

Peck didn’t feel scared, as she was scared of nothing, she always thought of the bright side of things. The creatures also seemed to be as dark as dark could possibly be. She thought of the bright side of it, maybe it was a giant ball of liquorice, she thought to herself.

She walked back to her room, and got some toys to use to play with her little sisters.

Peck was much older than her sisters, but she still loved them very much, and would do anything to protect them.

Later that night, they snuggled up in their beds, and their mother told them a fairy-tale.

Once upon a time, there were two little bunnies, wandering through the woods, and one suddenly fell through a mysterious hole in the ground.

The little bunny said to the other “are you okay?”. “I’m fine, but you should come and see this cave down here in the hole, we should explore it!”

The other bunny hopped down and together they went into the cave, deeper and deeper they went. Until at the end, they saw lightning strikes coming from around a corner, and could hear a strange buzzing sound. They walked around the corner and got captured by a kingdom of mysterious black creatures called Phantoms.

The phantoms went to guard their kingdom, and the bunnies  were left in the cave.

  

The bunnies managed to reach some keys hanging on the wall. They freed themselves and went running back to the entrance of the cave and hopped up out of the hole. They ran back to their mother and lived happily every after!

The End

Peck thought about the so called Phantoms in the story. Was the unusual creatures outside Phantoms?

She wasn’t quite sure, so she decided to get some sleep.

 

 

Chapter 2

Peck woke up bright and early, and climbed down her bunk bed, and stepped into a big puddle.

“What?” peck said to herself. She looked around, and saw her families whole burrow covered in a lake of water. She didn’t know what to do. She woke up her mother and father, and showed them the water.

The Kitchen at the bottom of the burrow was almost completely underwater. They saw their precious belongings and food floating in the water. Water kept pouring into their burrow, and the water level was rising by the minute.

They decided to evacuate the burrow, because by the end of the day, it would be completely submerged.

They walked into the cold dark woods, looking for shelter or an abandoned burrow in higher ground.

They walked through the wet puddles, until they reached a dry hill.

They walked around it, and they found nothing to make shelter with.

Suddenly, out of the darkness appeared a huge amount of Phantoms.

Their buzzing noise filled the air, and soon Peck’s family found themselves surrounded.

They stood frozen, not thinking of what to do.

But peck thought of better things to do, she ran off with the phantoms following behind. She ran down the hill and jumped into a river. She swam to the very bottom, because Peck was fearless, so nothing could get in her way.

The phantoms would give anything to capture her, so they went into the river as well, and Peck came to the top. She was able to stand up, and it would reach up to her neck. The Phantoms caught up with her, and the Phantoms got her, or did they?

The phantoms found that they had no power in the water, their lightning didn’t work and they couldn’t move very well.

Suddenly a huge gush of water swept the phantoms away, and they were never to be seen again.

Suddenly the sky brightened, and a glorious ray of sun filled the sky.

Peck saw a beautiful Blue Heron appear in front of her. The heron said, “My name is Mira, and I am one of the guardians of Jamaa, and peaceful land which the Phantoms are now trying to take over. We see you have lots of bravery,  and you have saved your family and aswell many creatures from the Phantoms. Your bravery and inner self would be great help In protecting Jamaa, so we think you should be one of the alphas, and defend our peaceful land and fight against the phantoms to protect and save all of Jamaa. So what do you say peck? Do you want to join?”

“Yes, yes, yes, I will of course join!” Peck shouted happily!
